Shoes That Give Back | Our Giving Partners

by Shannon Scott February 21, 2019

For every pair of shoes sold, COMUNITYmade donates up to 20% to the charity of your choice. Read on to find out more about our Giving Program!

Here at COMUNITYmade, we love to tell stories of how good things can spread. Those that shop with us, understand that whatever they purchase from us will be true quality, but they get an extra bonus too. They are actually purchasing shoes that give back locally to their community in a way that everyone can benefit.

There is a reason why we are called COMUNITYmade. You will notice that there is an “M” missing in the word community. We are here to support those around us but we also want to communicate well with them and bring everyone together in a united front. The name we chose represents just that COM + Unity and we are all made of working together. So, how do we do this?

For every purchase you make, we are able to share some of the proceeds of that sale with our community through the aid of our partners. While most businesses are focused entirely on profit, it was our concern for those around us that inspired us to open our business. Our first goal is and always has been to make a difference in the world.

We can only do that through the purchases you make as a consumer and with the aid of our partners. For every pair of shoes you buy, COMUNITYmade donates $10 to one of these partners who will then take those funds and use them to assist those less fortunate in the community. Since you are the one who decides which partner will receive the funds, we thought it would be a good idea for you to get to know a little about them.

Street Poets

If you are an art lover, then you might want to donate to the Street Poets; an organization focused on utilizing the healing power of music and poetry in an effort to save young lives. Street Poets aim is to break the cycle of domestic violence seen and experienced in the lives of many at-risk youth and help them to see the opportunities they have before them.

Every child has their own unique gifts and talents, but in an abusive environment, these skills are often buried beneath a life of fear and anxiety. Street Poets uses their resources to help the youth in these situations, to find them, and then to transform them into budding artists with a hope of becoming a productive adult in their future.

Youth Mentoring Connection

As one of the few charitable shoe companies, COMUNITYmade is also focused on education. Through their Youth Mentoring program, they work at educating at-risk youth on how to tap into their unique qualities and give them a purpose in their lives. Each youth is matched up with a mentor who works with them to provide a structure that will guide them step-by-step on how to grow into a productive and conscientious adult who will contribute to their society.

The People Concern

No one likes to see homeless people wandering the streets in such uncertain times. Through our partner, The People Concern, we can find ways to empower these people and help them to rebuild their lives so they can start all over again. A fully integrated system of care has been developed that will ensure that their mental, medical, and substance abuse problems are addressed and provide them all with alternative solutions for support. Each case is unique so the approach to helping them is tailored specifically to each individual’s needs.

At COMUNITYmade, we believe in giving not just for the moment but for the long haul. Like others in our community, we want to help people to take back their lives and empower them to grow from our assistance and then later ‘pay it forward’ to others in need.

While there are many companies that donate proceeds to charities, we believe that our approach is unique. The partners we choose are not just there to ‘give’ to the community, but they are there to ‘help.’ This is the difference between offering them a ‘hand up’ as opposed to a ‘hand out’. While these partners have certainly made the grade as far as we’re concerned, we are always looking for new partners that are willing to extend themselves with the idea of giving every individual the chance to prosper and grow in a way that will make a significant difference in the lives of those around us.

Find Your Perfect Size

We want to help make sure that your new shoes have the best fit possible.

We have created a separate fit for men and women to provide the ultimate foot hugging comfort.  Our sockliner and upper materials will naturally mold to your foot and stretch out after a short period of time, so do allow for this when trying our shoes on initially.

In general, our shoes are running closer to an everyday shoe fit vs. an athletic shoe fit and can be worn with or without socks - but the socks have to be eye catching for best results.

Any variances from this chart will be noted on each individual product page.
